The day started out sunny. We rigged P8 but after having listened to the met forecast during the pilots briefing for the day but we decided not to fly. There is a solar eclipse between 11:40 and 12:30 that will delay thermal development. A front with CBs and winds gusting to 30kts is forecast to reach the task area in the afternoon. It will be a shopping and housekeeping (laundry) day.
Tonight at 18:00 will be the first official Team Managers' meeting.
Just as we left the briefing hangar, we saw that another fire had sprung up in the field beside the airport. This time it was much closer to our trailer. Fortunately, the response from the contest organizers and the local fire department was a lot more swift and the fire was brought under control quickly.
